Gov. Blunt Statement on Rick Sullivan
Missouri Governor Matt Blunt's Office - Official Release
JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement supporting Rick Sullivan and the Special Administrative Board which is working to ensure our students in St. Louis City have access to a quality education: "Any suggestion that the appointed board should step down is premature. Rick Sullivan is doing a great job in a very difficult situation. Any suggestion that he should be replaced is nonsense. Fixing the St. Louis schools is vital for the city, the region, the state and most importantly the students who deserve access to the high quality education that is vital to their success in life. "I was very disappointed that when asked by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Jay Nixon refused to support Rick Sullivan's long-term efforts to fix a broken system that for too long has been hurting our children in St. Louis City. Good education policy demands that we confront difficult problems head on. I want to reiterate my support for the effort that is underway and would discourage anybody from pandering to those who want to go back to the old broken system."-- http://www.bransonedge.com http://www.bransonmissouri.blogspot.com |
